First, locate your main water shut-off valve and turn it off if you have a major leak or burst pipe. This valve is usually located near where the water line enters your home, often in the basement or near the water meter.
For toilet overflows, turn off the water supply valve behind the toilet (turn clockwise). For sink or faucet issues, look for shut-off valves under the sink and turn those off.
If you smell gas, don’t turn on lights or use electrical switches. Leave the area immediately and call the gas company. For electrical issues related to water, turn off power to that area at the circuit breaker if you can do so safely. When in doubt, prioritize your safety and wait for us to arrive.
